Inspiration

  • Currently, students seeking internships/full-time roles have to manually keep track of their job applications on their platform. Therefore, our goal was to make a website where they can consistently keep track of their application statuses.

What it does

  • This project aims to solve the issue of tracking your job applications and their statuses on your own, whether that be Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel. Our web application integrated the application tracker within the same platform as the job search to make it more convenient for users. The website can also generate resumes for users to help them reduce time in formatting their resume, as well as they can look into resources (e.g. resume tips, interview preparation, etc.).

How we built it

  • We sketched the layout of our website design on Figma (UI), and then we coded it using React/CSS. In addition, we were able to deploy our website using Railway after attending the "Liftoff: From Localhost to Live Site" workshop.

Challenges we ran into

  • Struggled to connect the backend to frontend due to limit constraints
  • Responsive UI (e.g. Home Page)
  • Google OAuth
  • Generate resume not in the format we expected when we converted to PDF

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Connecting Google OAuth for sign-in (Profile + Name connected after login in via sign in with Google)
  • Responsive UI

What we learned

  • Learned how to deploy website using Railway for the first time
  • More familiar with React
  • Spend less time on design and more time on code

What's next for JobBros

  • Connection from backend to frontend (job search, application tracker)
  • Implement AI for job matching
  • Generate Resume (to PDF/Docs)
  • JobWrapped (like SpotifyWrapped)
