Inspiration
My team and I enjoy connecting with people through games, so we decided to make our application based on games everyone knows and loves!
What it does
The application has five classic two-player games that the user can either choose from or let a wheel randomly select a game for them.
How we built it
We built everything from the ground up using HTML, CSS, and JS
Challenges we ran into
Overall, our first and biggest challenge was learning new languages. In terms of the program itself, we ran into a lot of complications with trying to make the wheel spin and executing the games on the page of our application. We also encountered many minor bugs in our games.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
All team members had little to no experience with the programming languages/web development used in this program, but we were able to create what we planned in the beginning with little to no changes in the initial vision for the program.
What we learned
We learned that prolonged periods of deep work can actually lead to satisfying results, and we can develop our skills quicker if we're persistent and have a specific goal in mind.
What's next for JumpIn
Given that we're all freshmen and this is our first hackathon, we hope to constantly develop our skills and make an even more interactive and sophisticated gaming application than the one we made with our bare hands. We would also like to make a server for the games to be played through.
