Inspiration
While working with Justice U, Liiingo was horrified to learn the current statistics involving human trafficking--approximately 50 million victims at any given time, 27% of which are children! link(https://www.worldschildren.org/child-trafficking-statistics/) Trafficking deprives human of their fundamental rights. It is our responsibility to provide whatever resources we can towards correcting these excruciating acts of injustice.
What it does
The Justice U app currently provides information on what human trafficking looks like, who to report to, and what actions can be taken if you suspect human trafficking. The app is currently available in 3 languages, which display automatically based on the system language of the users phone.
How we built it
Justice U was built on the Liiingo platform, a patented SaaS solution which delivers content in multiple languages immediately for people. This platform delivers targeted content via links and QR codes to individuals in the way they choose (desktop, mobile web, or app). During Q4 of 2023, Liiingo will be implementing automated translations powered by Microsoft Cognitive Services to further expand the global reach of this important message.
Challenges we ran into
As we neared the finish line we realized the app was not properly displaying videos. Fixing this problem required collaboration between our product, engineering, and customer service teams. Through quick maneuvering and critical thinking, our team was able to come up with an effective solution.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud to be working towards such a worthy goal in partnership with an organization as incredible as Justice U. Our team has a strong belief in human rights and we are honored to play a part in disseminating information about this prolific problem.
What we learned
We were shocked to learn how prevalent human trafficking is, and that it happens domestically and internationally. We learned partnerships with the right companies is crucial in developing meaningful tech. We were excited to learn that companies like Microsoft are so supportive of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Ggoals (SDGs) and in helping to solve the world’s problems, which includes human trafficking..
What's next for Justice U
We plan to implement Microsoft Cognitive Services to provide access in more languages. Currently, 5,000 individuals have graduated from Justice U's Human Trafficking Prevention training; but they are aiming to equip 1M more. Through our partnership, we plan to help them reach that goal, and fast. We believe information empowers each of us to make decisions that benefit the world, and especially to better protectchildren and all those in need.
