Inspiration
Most people like to participate, measure and see how they do in an activity... But where and how do you track different scores and times with different groups of your friends? We wanted to bring this simple yet effective fun/gamification to your pocket and wanted for it to be very instant.
What it does
You can create instant leaderboards in 60s or less and track many different activities. Table Football office scores, Billiard, beer or shots drank, pool and dart scores, local sport leaderboards – best time, best score, least penalty points, Checkpoint routes (QR codes secured).
How we built it
Using Firebase as database, React for the web app and Kotlin for Android app. With our bare hands.
Challenges we ran into
Just lack of time for all the features we would want to see there - some of them have to wait for after the hackhaton. Also Firebase was quite a challenge, especially since no mentor was here.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
To actually have a working prototype on 2 platforms - web at www.kapoard.com and android app available on Google Play.
What we learned
Tons of tricks with Firebase. Countless unforgettable experiences with our team mates.
What's next for kapoard
We will polish the final version, stabilize and develop not yet finished features, like API hooked leaderboards (Github commits, Slack messages etc.) and more.
