Inspiration
We wanted to build a competitive game that rewards skill, not randomness. Inspired by rhythm games and real kickboxing timing drills, the idea was simple: a perfectly timed strike should feel powerful and satisfying. Adding Bitmoji players made it personal, social, and fun, turning a precision challenge into a friendly duel.
What it does
Kickboxing is a turn-based kickboxing game where two Bitmoji players compete across 3 rounds. Each turn, a player strikes using a moving meter: • Hitting the perfect center gives the maximum score of 100 • Accuracy directly impacts performance • Players alternate turns, keeping the game fair and skill-focused The winner is decided based on total performance across all rounds.
🛠️ How we built it • Designed a precision-based meter system to calculate accuracy • Implemented turn-based logic for two Bitmoji players • Structured gameplay into 3 clear rounds with score tracking • Used visual and timing feedback to make perfect hits feel rewarding • Optimized interactions for quick, repeatable play sessions
Challenges we ran into
• Balancing the meter so it feels challenging but fair
• Ensuring consistent timing behavior across turns
• Managing clean round transitions without breaking game flow
• Keeping the game competitive while remaining accessible to casual players
Accomplishments that we’re proud of
• Built a skill-first competitive game without randomness
• Created an engaging two-player Bitmoji experience
• Delivered a complete 3-round combat loop
• Made the gameplay easy to understand but hard to master
• Achieved smooth pacing suitable for short, replayable sessions
What we learned
• Small timing mechanics can create high emotional impact
• Turn-based systems work extremely well for social AR games
• Clear visual feedback is crucial for skill-based gameplay
• Simplicity in rules leads to deeper competition
