Inspiration

We were inspired to make the online learning experience as close as we can to the offline experience for the students and teachers. Also, we wanted to make the platform easily accessible and easy to use for the teachers and make it a versatile platform. We aimed to make online education reach where offline isn't possible and make it an organized and clean platform to help students keep tabs on their coursework and have an easy access wherever and whenever they want with Klasa.

What it does

Klasa provides a platform for teachers and students to connect, share resources and give a feel of next to real classroom. It has in-app search feature to find exactly you're looking for in the classroom, separate announcements and discussion forum to segregate important information and also facilitate easy peer-to-peer learning and doubt solving. It also has a segregated resources and assignments section to keep easy tabs on course content and an integrated calendar to have all the class links and deadlines at one place.

How we built it

First, we ideated and shortlisted the important features we wanted to implement, and we researched about already existing classroom apps and listed their shortcomings. Then we designed the front-end and put down the detailed functionalities. After this step, we started work on front-end and back-end simultaneously and co-ordinated at every step.

Challenges we ran into

With the limited time we had, our previous knowledge was challenged, and we faced a lot of errors that needed to be debugged in a short time. The deployment phase put us into a challenging situation since the web-app was working efficiently on the local host but was not as efficient when deployed. We were also facing a dilemma and had to cut short a lot of features that we initially planned to incorporate in our web-app due to the time constraints

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of the fact that we were able to pull off a lot of tasks that we decided to when the hackathon began. We ran into a lot of challenges, but we faced them and came out of it stronger than ever.

What we learned

We learned how to collaborate efficiently within our team in such a short time and debugged the app when we faced errors and successfully deployed it before our internal deadline.

What's next for Klasa

After this hackathon, we plan to incorporate a separate interface for teachers and professors on the app. We also plan to add the additional features we previously had to drop off due to time constraints. We further plan to make Klasa an open-source project, and we plan to involve more people and incorporate their valuable contributions and feedback.
