Kombutt — Built for fun, driven by community 🐨
If you've participated in hackathons, you know the feeling of quickly building something fun—just to test new tech or gain practical skills. Venom Network’s TokenForge Hackathon offered exactly this experience: a chance to experiment, learn, and create something tangible.
🎬 How it started
We chose the fungible token track to gain practical experience in launching our own token within the Venom blockchain ecosystem. Our goal was straightforward: to understand the entire process—from token deployment to using decentralized applications.
👋 Meet the Kombutt team
Our hackathon team was an informal group—not just developers from Chums, but also creative friends who enjoyed experimenting with blockchain and exploring AI tools.
Design: One of our friends used Midjourney AI to craft our unique character, Kombutt, the son of a koala and a wombat. Calm yet stubborn, Kombutt quickly became the lovable hero at the heart of our creative universe.
Backend: We deployed the KBUTT token (TIP-3 standard) on Venom Mainnet (root contract), and launched a WVENOM/KBUTT trading pair on the decentralized exchange Web3.World.
Frontend️: Our frontend developer quickly built a simple landing page and integrated a convenient token transfer plugin for EVM networks, provided by the VenomBridge team specifically for the hackathon.
📢 Simple but effective marketing
With minimal resources, our marketing strategy was straightforward: we simply shared the project with friends, contacts, and the hackathon community. This was enough to successfully kickstart the project—huge thanks to everyone involved! A small community quickly emerged around Kombutt.
Thanks to this traction and our team's focused effort, we secured victory in our track! 🏆 It was our very first hackathon, and this win significantly boosted our motivation!
After the hackathon, our team members returned to full-time development of Chums, while Kombutt Universe was handed over to the newly formed community.
🌱 Life after the hackathon
Under community management, Kombutt continued evolving independently:
NFT collection️: The community successfully launched the Kombutt NFT collection on Oasis Gallery, distributing NFTs among active KBUTT holders.
Exclusive space: A Private club for NFT holders was established in Chums Chat, providing a cozy spot for community interactions.
Official recognition: KBUTT token was officially whitelisted by Venom Blockchain Explorer and integrated into Venom Wallet, enhancing visibility and accessibility.
We don't know exactly what the Kombutt community will do next, but we sincerely hope they'll finally deliver the limited-edition NFT manga they've promised!
