Inspiration 🎲

  • We want to make mahjong not boring... and productive.

What it does 🂲

  • The game asks you to answer a trivia question whenever you want to Chow or Pung. If you get it wrong, you cannot get your tile. If you get it right, you get the tile regardless if it was a chow or pung. You can customize the questions to gamify studying.

How we built it ♠

  • Frontend: Vite, React, Tailwind, Axios, Javascript
  • Server: Express.js
  • Backend: MongoDB, Typescript

Challenges we ran into 🂠

  • Setting up the server was a pain
  • Package management was a pain
  • Connecting frontend and backend was a pain
  • React was acting up when we were trying to set it up

Accomplishments that we're proud of 🎰

  • Andrew was learning TypeScript as he went
  • Annika made a sick frontend
  • It was Blaire's and Andrew's first hackathon!

What we learned ♦

  • Andrew learned TypeScript
  • Our idea is a little bit too ambitious for a 24-hour hackathon

What's next for KuMahjong 🃏🔥

  • Fully implementing server/backend/frontend communication
  • Allow users to customize the questions for whatever they want to study, or whatever stupid questions they want to test their friends on
