Inspiration

Procrastination has always been an issue with people all around the world and of all ages. Personally, I've procrastinated a lot during the past year. I wanted a way to help myself become more focused and wanted a way to motivate myself. I was sure that I was not the only one, and I wanted to help people, including myself, not procrastinate.

What it does

Leafy Studying is a fun website that allows people to study better. Its main function is motivating students and workers by growing a plant whenever someone completes a task. It also has a photo gallery that allows people to see different pictures of the previous and next plants.

How we built it

I built Leafy Studying by using Repl.it as my coding software to code in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. To draw the icons and photos, I used Procreate.

Challenges we ran into

One of the challenges that occurred was that there were lots of issues in my code due to a typo or a forgotten closing tag. I also tried to do some things at the end that I didn't have time for... so I had to either simplify them or to make them a comment so I can try to add it in later after the Hackathon.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I feel really happy about how Leafy Studying turned out to look like. I'm really proud that I finally got my spacing down (since I was having a few issues with that) and that my icons turned out okay, since I don't have an artistic hand. I'm also really happy about how the image changes after clicking the next button(I know it probably seems easy, but it's harder than it looks!) because I was having trouble with it since I kept trying to do advanced things and not remembering that there was a really easy way.

What we learned

I learned a lot of different things about HTML, CSS, and JavaScript when coding Leafy Studying. For example, I learned how to use onclick in HTML and how to let a button only be clicked once every couple minutes or so.

What's next for Leafy Studying

Leafy Studying was really fun and interesting to make. In the future, I would probably add a log-in page so progress would be saved. I'd also like to add more plants and icons.
