Inspiration
Lebron James' impact to the game of basketball is generally unmatched. In our website, we go in depth and analyze visually his impact and greatness. We wanted to dedicate our project to the GOAT of basketball.
What it does
Our website displays Lebron's greatness visually through plots of his stats, compared against other greats and just overall stats. By visualizing his stats, we can see why exactly Lebron is considered one of the GOATs.
How we built it
We built our website using Python Flask as the backend an data analytic libraries like Numpy and Pandas to analyze statistics. Our graphs utilized Python's Plotly to allow them to be interactive and dynamic on our website. We touched up and refined the frontend with Bootstrap, making the layout simple and clean. Finally, we hosted our website on AWS, running Nginx as a reverse proxy.
Challenges we ran into
While experimenting with different libraries, we found that many did not work properly with what we were trying to achieve. Some libraries were broken on default, and we had to learn other ways to go through it
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of scraping together a project after a rough start. We had a teammate have to stop participating leading us to remain with two members when we started the hackathon. We eventually made a project that we were proud of.
What we learned
We learned how to utilize Python Flask as a backend and format data using data analytic libraries. We also learned about web hosting services like AWS.
What's next for Lebronify
Lebronify aims to improve by including things to solidify the point that it is trying to make: the fact that Lebron is the current GOAT of the NBA as well as the GOAT of basketball.
