Inspiration

There is a revolution happening in education right now but how do you change something if you don't know what is wrong?

What it does

Our project provides a minute by minute analysis about how well a teacher or professor is engaging a classroom

We are trying to quantify the intangible details that make an exceptional teacher exceptional.

How I built it

We used the Microsoft ProjectOxford Face recognition API with a raspberry pi and a camera module.

Challenges I ran into

The challenge was interfacing between multiple systems and determining optimal parameter for measuring student engagement

What's next for Lecture Stats

Expand beyond facial recognition. Teachers could use feedback on voice modulation, volume, facial expression, movement and other factors that affect the classroom experience.
