Inspiration

In our current day and age, people tend to struggle with motivation, consistency, and impulsive buying.

Retail Therapy is a very real thing, and according to a 2025 study, 80% of people from all over the world have reported making at least one splurge purchase to lift their mood, showing that emotional spending is common across diverse cultures.

There are plenty of Finance and Productivity apps out there, but those productivity apps don't enforce accountability, and budgeting apps don't motivate behavior.

So, we thought, what if these shopping sprees had to be earned through productivity?

What it does

This app helps users build discipline by turning productivity into access to their own spending money. Users set personal goals and tasks, and by completing them, they earn XP that unlocks rewards they choose for themselves. Rewards are tiered from Bronze to Silver to Gold, with higher tiers requiring more XP and effort. All rewards must fit within the user’s available spending budget.

This app will also track the user's monthly income. Once that income is received, it will be broken down into the user's fixed expenses, their savings, and their spending money. That spending money is what will be used as an incentive for the user as they complete tasks.

How we built it

We used javscript, python, html, css. for graphics we used adobe illustrator, procreate, and adobe photo shop. for the wire frame we used fastAPI and gemini API

Challenges we ran into

We wanted to make this app approachable for all users, so we put a lot of effort into the design of our mascot and the background. This was a bit difficult in the beginning but after a lot of fixing we eventually got it to work. Getting proper animations in the pie charts or buttons was also a little difficult, but we made it through!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We have a fully functioning productivity + finance system.

We built a clean and aesthetically pleasing UI under a tight deadline.

Turning a random/ abstract idea into a working product.

What we learned

We learned how difficult it is to design a financial system responsibly. As this was a majority of our team's first hackathon, we learned how to design for real users and not just go based off of features. There were a lot of new technical skills learn, and this was a very fulfilling experience.

What's next for Lemoney

The next steps would be to add more verification on if a task is completed or not, as of now we are running on an honesty policy. Including some social features to further encourage users to complete tasks could be a future improvement. We would also like to expand this project into a mobile app.
