Inspiration
The Covid-19 Pandemic kept local businesses healthy and accessible, but local family-owned businesses were hurt badly, so we wanted to shed light on the local businesses.
What it does
Takes the user's location, and shows all local restaurants around the location in a ~50 mile radius. User can save certain locations, and businesses can update information about their business on the spot!
How I built it
Django, HTML, and CSS were used to create the framework. Python was used to create user accounts, save locations for a user, and create Login, Register, and Add Extra information pages. Google Maps JavaScript API was used to display map, and Places API was used to show all the local restaurants.
Challenges I ran into
Accessing one part of the Location triggered other factors in the location, which caused a bunch of errors.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We allow businesses to update information on the spot.
What I learned
The Google Maps JavaScript API is very accessible in many aspects.
What's next for Link Local
Generalizing local restaurants to local businesses and adding more spots on the API.
