Inspiration
There are certain times when we need to submit a link to some file but the file is not ready yet or we may want to update the file in future like a Youtube video or a GitHub repo. Upon re-uploading a new video to Youtube, you get a new link to the video. On Linko, a user can generate a link and set the redirect to that video, in the future if he re-uploads or wants to change the redirect, then he'll be able to do so.
What it does
Linko is a link redirect utility. Here users can generate new links and name them according to their preferences. They can then set the redirect link to the generated link. In this way, users can give the first generated link anywhere and then manage the redirects accordingly with time. They can update, switch between previous redirect versions or stop the redirects. Users can also directly upload any file to IPFS with a simple drag and drop and set the file link as a redirect to the generated link.
How we built it
We used Nextjs along with Tailwind to completely build the frontend. Tableland for managing the database for links and redirect link versions. For uploading files to IPFS, we have used Spheron SDK.
Challenges we ran into
As we began late, time limitation was a real challenge.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to achieve all the features we thought of in the last limited hours.
What we learned
We learned about usage of Spheron SDK along with Tableland.
What's next for Linko
With a few more iterations, we are looking to eliminate the gas fee feature and make Google logins available to users to make this much more user-friendly. With that, we'll be releasing Linko in production to make this available for users and help them the next time they will be submitting a link somewhere.
