Inspiration
Do you ever forget about what your bookmarked pages meant? Do you ever get frustrated not being able to find the link to the article you were just reading? Do you ever having a huge list of links and wonder why you saved them? We sure do! With the Links Dashboard, you can keep your thoughts and brilliant ideas organized, and you won't ever forget what your links are for.
What it does
Our web app is a dashboard that stores all your links, includes your notes, and scrapes descriptions from websites based on a Google Sheet.
How we built it
We built the web app using HTML, CSS, and Javascript. We used the Sheety API which allows the Javascript backend to retrieve data from a Google Sheet. The website of the link on the sheet is scraped for the "Additional Information Found" section which includes the website title and the description of the website. All the information from the sheet and webscraping are displayed on a responsive web app.
Challenges we ran into
We weren't very familiar with Javascript and using Javascript as a backend, but through a lot of online tutorials, we were able to successfully use it to scrape websites, create elements to be displayed in the frontend, and create get requests.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of making something that is productive and can be easily used.
What we learned
We learned a lot about full-stack development in HTML, CSS, and Javascript
