Inspiration

It all started when I saw how easily people fall for fake links that promise free trips or prizes. I’ve always hated seeing people lose money to scams, so I decided to build something that actually stops it. That’s where LinkShield AI was born.

What it does

LinkShield AI instantly scans any link you give it and tells you if it’s safe or a scam. It uses AI along with the VirusTotal API to analyze the link in real time and protect people from phishing, fraud, and fake offers.

How we built it

I built LinkShield AI with React and ShadCN UI to make it look clean and modern and then connected it to the VirusTotal API for real-time link scanning. The AI checks the safety level and shows the results on a beautiful dashboard with gradients and animations that make it feel like a proper product.

Challenges we ran into

Getting the VirusTotal API to respond quickly while keeping the results accurate was a big challenge. The design part was also tricky because I wanted it to look really premium but still be simple enough for anyone to use. I spent a lot of time fixing bugs and API errors till it finally worked perfectly.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I built a working product that actually detects bad links. I’m proud that it looks like something that could go straight to market and that it was born from a real problem that needed fixing. It’s not just a project it feels like a real startup idea.

What we learned

I learned how to properly integrate APIs with a frontend, how AI can help in cybersecurity, and how important it is to focus on design. A tool might be powerful but if it doesn’t look and feel trustworthy people won’t use it.

What's next for LinkShield AI

Next I want to turn this into a browser extension and a mobile app so people can scan links anywhere. I also plan to add smarter AI that predicts scams before they even go live.

The goal is simple - make the internet a safer place for everyone.
