Inspiration

Praedial Larceny costs Jamaica an average of 5 billion dollars per year. LiveStalk was conceived to help alleviate that problem.

What it does

Allows farmers to track their livestock and be notified if they are moved of their farm or the tracker is deactivated.

How I built it

LiveStalk was built using the python web framework, Flask. Mapbox API and twilio were also used to implement some functionality.

Challenges I ran into

Deciding on a platform proved difficult because of the nature of our target audience and the technology available to them.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Working as a team to come up with a solution to try and solve a serious real world problem.

What I learned

Learned about the problems facing Jamaican farmers, and how to build a business proposal around our idea to try and solve those problems.

What's next for LiveStalk

We hope that LiveStalk will provide farmers with a sense of safety to farmers and help reduce the impact of praedial larceny.
