Locked Potential

Inspiration

This is our interpretation of the word "Lockdown". We could have taken the expected path and made the project about the pandemic, but we decided to do something different and lighthearted. It is no doubt that the negative impact of the pandemic has been huge, hence we decided to create a positive solution that could bring people together. Introducing , Locked Potential, and online escape room that metaphorically is about being locked and trying to escape a room, but also is a representation of our current reality worldwide, COVID-19.

How it Works

This escape room works like an ordinary escape room. The players will be logged onto a website that navigates them to a chatroom, where a bot will question them puzzling and challenging questions, which they would have to solve to move onto the next level. Unfortunately due to our limited knowledge in coding, we could not build the ChatBot, but we instead built a ChatRoom through which players can communicate and discuss the riddles together.

How We Built it

The front end of the webpage was built using HTML and CSS, whereas the front end of the ChatRoom was also built using the same. The back end was built using Python, React and Javascript. We edited the video using mobile editing apps, and the animations were done in Procreate.

Challenges we faced

To be frank, we went into this hackathon blank, we had less prior knowledge about Python. So we faced a slump despite having a suitable idea to build upon. However, we learned to never give up and we built a product we could be satisfied with. We made a video, script and edited it all together.

What we learned

While we went in without knowledge about Python in particular, working on the project made us feel more interested in the language and we learned to work more efficiently despite our limited time. We hope to enter with more knowledge next time, and do the best of our capabilities.

Whats next?

We wish to work on the Chatbot and hopefully complete it, giving our project justice. We hope that despite the project not being up to the expectations we hoped, we can bring people together and brighten up their lives during such difficult circumstances.
