Inspiration

The environment is our principal inspiration. This hacktival is the perfect opportunity for us to work together and create a product that supports local farmers and fair trade. There is a lot of people who don't know exactly what fair trade is and where they could find regional and organic products. Also, some people don't even have interest into buying from farmers because of the higher prices. But what if we had an application that not only displays you local regional markets and their prices, but also, rewards you for supporting the regional market?

What it does

This Android App connects regular users with grocery stores which sell regional products.

The buyer can find products/markets from a map, compare prices, give reviews to the different markets he visited, get a reward in Karlocoins from the seller, spend his Karlocoins for sponsored products, and most importantly, support the regional market and the environment.

The seller can configure his market, add products and set their prices and generate a Karlocoins reward code after selling a product. Regional Markets are able to promote their products and therefore acquire new clients. They are able to reach people, that they would probably never reach in the first place.

What's next for Lokarlo

We have some ideas that could expand Lokarlo:

  1. Allowing the Markets to create specific product sales, which will provide them with statistics of what they sold and how much for which price.

  2. Order system for the users. Markets would know what to have before they open, buyers will just have to hold their regional goodies.

  3. Reminders for the buyers when a specific product is available in their proximity

  4. Tag sellers with higher quality eco logos for example "Demeter"
