Inspiration

We are both freshmen who struggled to get involved during our first month on campus because there was only one club fair and seemingly way too many clubs to find the perfect one that fits our interests. In addition, now that we are both currently involved, we agree that it is a mess in terms of communication across platforms like email, GroupMe, Slack, Instagram.

What it Does

This is an app for students, by students, that curates events for the week and provides a centralized platform for students to find and engage with clubs they are truly passionate about.

How We Built It

I used a mix of JavaScript, CSS, and HTML to build this project. Nicole did all of the logos and marketing slides for our presentation

Challenges We Faced

I didn't have much of a challenge coding this app but towards the end of the project I had to do a lot of UI inprovement which is a little foreign to me.

Accomplishments that We Are Proud Of

I think the usability and UI for this website turned out really good, and I think that it's an inviting platform for both students and club leaders to use and engage with.

What We Learned

I learned a lot from this project, including UI, refreshing my memory with JavaScript, time management, and teamwork on projects.

What's Next for Loop'd

I would love to continue developing the backend to hopefully create an algorithm that can push events based on interests and/or incorporate an AI chatbot to help someone figure out what activities they can do on a given free day or plan their schedule based on the clubs they follow. In terms of scale, I would love to finish the build for this app and run some beta tests to have it fully functional and ready for the start of the fall semester, so we can use it on our campus and eventually scale it up to other campuses as well.
