Inspiration

We were inspired by the sheer rage that filled us when somebody cut the lunch line. When we tried to make them go to the back of the line, we were sworn at, we were insulted, and so on. So, we made this game to get those people back.

What it does

It simulates the lunch lines and the illegal cafeteria rush every day. It is very useful tool for training cafeteria staff (sarcasm)

How we built it

We built it using blood, sweat, tears and time. List of resources: Clickup (Management and to-do list app), Unity (Game engine), bosca ceoil (Music-making software)

Challenges we ran into

When we were trying to build our project, webGl wouldn't work, so we had to compromise and make it a PC download instead. This is really sad as it took us an hour but it still ended up not working in the end. Another challenge was that the rate of the game was based on frame rate, luckily we fixed this in time before release.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The music is originally composed by Mingyue Yang for this specific game and will get stuck in your head, and the gameplay is rather balanced.

What we learned

We learned how to work with a deadline, and we also learned how to work as a team. It is Nathan's first ever time using Unity to create a project, and it is Mingyue's first time submitting something formally.

What's next for Lunch Line Simulator

The map needs a bit of a rework. Maybe we'll get it to work on WebGL on our own time. Sound effects are high priority, as it is hard to enjoy the game when you can't physically hear the rule-breaking children screaming (for legal reasons this is a joke).
