Inspiration
Over 1.2 billion dollars a year is lost to phishing attacks. These phishing attacks are targeted towards the most technologically disadvantaged. We believe everyone deserves the most advanced protection towards the latest attacks.
What it does
Traditional approaches blacklisting knowing phishing links is not enough. We seek to revolutionize how security is against phishing is approached. Instead of waiting to detect known bad links, our program uses advanced image, language, URL, and color detection algorithms, to determine if a website is a threat to our users.
How we built it
We used cloud AI technology and other threat detection algorithms to determine if a particular website has a high probably of being a malicious threat against our users. Our software suite is a full stack suite that has a frontend chrome extension that gathers website data and an advanced backend server that processes this data and determines if this site is threat.
Challenges we ran into
Our team was fairly new to JavaScript and ran into some problems with implementation. It proved as great learning experience for our team.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We have fully implemented a working website and backend that can successfully determine if a website is a threat through a given API link.
What we learned
What we learned was JavaScript and server configurations and above all else, teamwork.
What's next for Lure
We look forward to improving and further training our threat detection algorithm to increase accuracy and decrease user friction.
