Make it Eco!

Inspiration

One of the co-leaders, Christina Guo, has witnessed pollution directly. When she was ten years old, she came across a seal that was wrapped in plastic by the neck. Its eyes were imploring for help, yet, many warned her not to touch the seal. Pollution is a problem universally and it affects every type of creature from human to insect. Whether that be from the air or water, pollution is everywhere. And not only animals suffer from pollution, humans die every year from air poisoning. The other leaders of the project feel extremely strong against pollution and its effects that can leave an everlasting impact on Earth for the years to come. We want to bring awareness.

What it does

We offer eco-friendly ideas and alternatives that are cheaper while helping the environment more. Make it Eco! will hopefully get more people overall to know about misleading eco-friendly conceptions, while also providing more alternatives to the current non-eco-friendly everyday items being used.

How we built it

We used Google Slides to create a presentation that offers readers and audience an opportunity to be more eco-friendly to the environment. Moreover, we created an interactive Scratch module to introduce judges to alternatives to save the Earth.

Challenges we ran into

Even when fighting sleep, creating a unique while colorful and creative presentation wore us out. However, we persevered and researched deeply into the affects that different variables have on the environment. Just with a couple cups of coffee and a determined mindset, we were able to push on.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of our commitment and determination to save the Earth. And while not a lot of people may take action directly, it is still important that we raise awareness of an issue that may cause a bigger problem in the future. We are proud of our hard work and creativity that came with our project. ## What we learned We learned a lot more about different types of pollution such as noise or light pollution. Although we are new to coding, we learned so much about algorithms that will help us in the future. Who knew that airplanes or city lights could cost a life?

What's next for Make it Eco!

We will make moves to save the Earth and save lives! We are mostly focused on raising awareness for the cause, but we can't turn "Make it Eco!" into a reality without you.
