Origin
We originally wanted to build a map that demonstrated the realistic effect that federal funding has on test scores.
Challenges
We faced issues in getting the data we needed to answer the questions that we wanted to answer, but we were able to create a map and an interactive slider as the shell for what would have held our results
Current state
The map currently shows how removing federal funding will affect each state, but the goal of the project at the end is to serve as a framework for future researchers. It includes the linear regression framework, the map, & the interactivity.
Next steps
We argue that there needs to be more organized & official data on educational attainment in the US. While this overall project was not successful in its original goal, it represents the disorganized nature of current educational data. We hope to develop this in the future to accomplish our original goal, but for now we hope that this framework can be helpful to those who wish to map US data in their projects in the future.
