Inspiration
We got inspired to create this project through the increasing popularity of blockchain and cryptocurrency.
What it does
MarkTracker.eth is a mark system on the blockchain for teachers, students, and parents. Teachers can update marks on the blockchain with ease by entering their student’s wallet address, subjects, and marks. Students can easily connect their wallets to the website and view their marks and see how they’re doing at any time of the year.
How we built it
We build our project using Solidity as the backend and react as the frontend. We used a template as a starting point and rewrote a lot of the existing code to fit our needs in the project. We used Solidity to build smart contracts and react to design the layout of our project.
Challenges we ran into
There were many challenges we ran into when building our project. One of them is learning about blockchain and the intricacy of crypto. We spent a lot of time researching the blockchain rather than coding because we were very new to crypto. On top of that, we had to learn Solidity, a programming language used to build smart contracts on the blockchain.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
This was our first time learning about blockchain and crypto, so we were very proud we were able to build a project in under 36hours using blockchain technology. We were also very proud of ourselves for creating a project in under 36hours with only two team members.
What we learned
We learn about the blockchain and crypto and how everything works together. We also learned about Solidity, a programming language used to build smart contracts on the blockchain.
What's next for MarkTracker.eth
MarkTracker.eth is expected to expand out and store more data by allowing teachers to name and list each assignment that’s worth marks on the report card.
MarkTracker.eth will be able to mint record cards as NFTs as official records for the school year. Allowing students to really own their marks.
