Inspiration

STEM education is very important, and it starts at a young age. Mental math skills are very useful and help practice your thinking muscles. With that, we decided to gamify learning quick mental math. Our project is inspired by education games like Brain Age or apps like Duolingo, and the gameplay loops of games like Balatro or Hades.

What it does

Play a game that tests your mental math skills! By answering questions, you can get money that you can use on the gacha machine to roll for cards. These cards then help you score higher scores! Try to collect all the cards!!

How we built it

Our tech stack consists of a create-react-app frontend, python backend (FastAPI) with calls the Dedalus labs API to call on AI models to generate basic arithmetic problems. Our assets were sourced from Freepik.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the gameplay loop we managed to create after many tests and iterations.

What we learned

We learned how to network frontend to backend to an AI API.

What's next for Mathcha

Maybe add more cards... algebra questions, trig questions, calculus questions??
