Inspiration

In healthcare, communication can be the difference between life and death. However in America, there is often miscommunication between English speaking medicare professionals and non-English speaking patients.

Current Technology

Currently, hospitals often utilize translator phones, corded phones that enable communication between the doctor and patient via a live translator. However, for nurses, the process of using a translator phone is too tedious for repetitive, simple check-ins.

General translating apps, like Google Translate, are unreliable. Misinterpreted medical terms can lead to disastrous situations.

Current medical translating apps on the market are overwhelming, hard to navigate, and have no means for patients to communicate with the caregiver. This leads to an impersonal, one-way conversation.

Our Solution

Medical Connection Application, or MedCAPP, is a medical translating tool that allows caregivers to communicate with non-English speaking patients in a conversational and engaging manner.
