Inspiration
People very often hesitate taking a medicine they've never had as reading the side effects can often be scary. However knowing the experience of other people and healthcare professionals can reassure them and allowing them to recover properly. This is the inspiration behind the tool we plan to create during the hackathon
What it does
Our tool scrapes pharma related data across the web, captures opinions from both patients and healthcare professionals, and presents actionable insights through a clean dashboard built for fast and accurate decision making.
How we built it
Our system will be built using Python for efficient data processing, with supporting packages such as numpy and matplotlib for the purposes of data analysis and insight generation. The required data will be ingested through REST APIs and stored in a structured format in MySQL. The front end will be built using HTML, CSS and JS.
Challenges we ran into
Figuring out how to filter out the data we do need from online reviews as the reviews might have completely irrelevant information. Also figuring out how to map the reviews into a range of sentiments.
