Medfindr is a virtual electronic tool that can be used by people around the world who need medical attention but may not be able to receive it because of multiple different reasons.

Inspiration

We were extremely inspired by the speakers that came in and their stories about the healthcare system in our current world. Even with all the modern technology, not enough people are getting enough proper healthcare. Especially after being to the emergency room and seeing all the different patients and how we were not able to get medical help after hours of waiting, we were motivated to create a project that would be able to help people around the world.

What it does

With people around the world not being able to get proper medical care, we created a website that we hope to expand to an app, which is a data-based AI tool that allows patients to list their symptoms or medical problems and the website can take this data and give realistic and quick responses. With our technology, we can give diagnoses, medications and solutions, contacts to healthcare professionals around the world and more to come. WIth our virtual consulting tools, we are able to connect you users to a doctor at any point during the day with any time zone. With this website, doctors from around the world will provide coverage of 24 hours a day service to ensure that whatever your medical problem is, it can be solved. If your symptoms or problems prove to be more dangerous, we are able to call emergency services or recommend to you a physical doctor using our website. Our website is able to pull up doctors and urgent cares in the area and give directions to ensure that you are able to get to your medical care safely but in a timely manner. If yourr symptoms prove to be urgent, emergency services will be called to ensure that you are able to stay healthy. This can help with the congestion of hospitals ensuring that patients who might not need to head to the hospital can stay home and leave that space for someone more in need.

How we built it

We built our website using the website replit. On the website, we coded with HTML and JavaScript to ensure that we were able to get the best effective results. We also conducted an extensive amount of research on both the coding process as well as the medical information to ensure that the website is accruate and provides the correct information.

Challenges we ran into

Some challenges that we ran into included many bugs in our code leading to syntax errors. This took a long time to repair and debug. It was also difficult for us to be able to present the website we had envisioned as we had a difficulty in figuring out the most effective way to be able to effectively search and receive answers.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Some accomplishments that we're proud of include being able to create this website in general since I have not had any coding experience and this project was definately difficult and a large learning curve. Thoughout the project, we encountered errors but we always persevered and continued to debug and rewrite lines upon lines of code. With our group having minimal coding experience, we are simply proud of being able to create anything in general. In the beginning, we didn't have high hopes on what we could create without coding experience, we had to conduct hours of research to be able to create anything at all and now having a whole website was extremely cool especially with how far we've come. We are all very proud of our work because we think that our idea could really solve an important world problem of hospital congestion.

What we learned

We learned a lot including how to develop a website in time restraints and how to code in many different languages. through our medical research, we were also able to learn a lot about the medical field and all the different problems that arise in the health industry around the world.

What's next for MedFindr

We have a lot more planned for MedFindr in the future. We plan to expand our website so it is more effective for people worldwide by including more languages. We also plan to add other functions such as medication reminders, medical journals and more. There is a lot more planned for MedFindr and we hope that we are going to have the oppotunity to continue our website to make it more effective and better help our community.
