Inspiration

To spread awareness of the mortality rates regarding various diseases including cancer and strokes.

What it does

Displays graphs and reports prediction data.

How we built it

We used a chart library to create graphs that represent the mortality rate of the diseases, and machine learning libraries to provide prediction data for each disease. (Extensive use of HTML, CSS, and jQuery for user friendly interface)

Challenges we ran into

Searching for a data source relevant to disease mortality.

Working collectively, designing a clear and interactive UI, training our machine learning models

One person can't do everything; Time management; Working to each member's strength and skill-set.

I created the machine learning algorithms for our disease data predictions. I had no prior experience with JavaScript or machine learning, so this project gave me the opportunity to develop those skills. I used linear algebra and vector manipulation to fit multiple regressions to our data and extrapolate future trends. Working with a new language was a bit tough, but I now have much more experience with JavaScript.

Jigar Hira
I worked mostly on front end. Working with pictures, charts, HTML. and CSS. I designed the logo and the look of the website. I used to work from the stretch but now I learned how to work with bootstrap. I also learned how to use some statistical data and machine learning to analyze the sample data.
