1.2B+ people use the Office suite. There are many use-cases and scenarios that Office products are very good at. Reporting, planning and basic graphics. Unfortunately, for teams who deal with interactive or specialised media (creative, entertainment and engineering - 2D art, 3D models, video, audio, engineering simulations), this is not enough. They also need to use special tools to get their core tasks done. Tools are diverse and used in different contexts.

Data silos and poor content management are therefore abundant due to the many different types of artifacts a typical team member have to deal with. Because tools are specialised in specific tasks, giving feedback and collaborating on the entire project is often ad-hoc, done through email attachments, link sharing or physical hand-offs. These processes do not scale well especially on larger teams and complex projects where there is diversity in content, media and document types.

An intranet is not sufficient - teams who deal with different kind of media - do not have time to manage links or dig deep within subsites to get the latest assets and take care of dependencies. They want to surface the most latest versions of the files that they need as soon as possible, whilst understanding and focusing on the tasks that they need to get done day-to-day.

We suggest a different approach - embed and integrate interactive content collaboration in Office products. Merge the high level plans, documentation and asset inventories with the artifacts that teams depend upon. Use Office products, along with its advanced capabilities, as a landing point for collaboration and feedback to bypass silos and streamline task dependencies.

We enable this capability through the MediaViewer365 add-in.

Office.use(MediaViewer365);
console.log("Welcome to the new collaboration era!");
