Inspiration
With the rise of people getting affected with Covid-19 we were looking at data on the level of healthcare people all around India was receiving and one of the things we found that people in rural areas are clueless about the symptoms of the disease and also lack proper medical supervision/care.
Hence , the team Ctrl Alt Elite came up with the idea of providing the people all over India an application that will not only connect the those in need with the correct medical care/supervision but also enable them to understand the implications of different diseases in a very intuitive way.
What it does
ELIXIR - a one stop location to discuss about different medical milestones , connect with different doctors worldwide with one on one encrypted chat and also video call them and also send them prescription via image upload from gallery or click picture from the app to forward images, AI assistant that can have a conversation with you through both text and speech about different medical terms, locate nearby hospitals to get proper medical care, you can register to donate blood and if you are in need of the same, it will display a list of donors and finally a translator to get the whole app in the language one is comfortable with and hence dissolve any communication barrier. This solution with shorten the gap between the people around the world in search for good healthcare and pave their a path in the journey of recovery.
How we built it
We built this all round application with the latest technology present in the current market like IBM Watson for translation to local languages and IBM Watson's AI Assistant , Google Maps for getting current location , Google Cloud Firestore to storing all data etc.
Challenges we ran into
There were quite a few challenges we ran into . Few were :-
- Integrating all info of our app with cloud firestore.
- Integrating and making an AI Assistant.
- Locating your present location and giving a list of all hospitals nearby your location.
- Having an one on one encrypted chat system and video calling feature.
- Making an intuitive and easy to operate UI.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud to present everyone a complete application with an intuitive UI. When we started a day back we had no clue whether we will be able to finish the application at all or add so many intuitive and modern features but ultimately all pieces fell into the board and all the features were integrated into the app and thus now we are able to present everyone a finished product
What we learned
We learned quite a few things in this Hackathon like :-
- Team Collaboration.
- Time management.
- Having a good UI/UX design.
- Information on healthcare in Rural areas around the world.
What's next for MedWatch
This Hackathon helped us have a new vision and outlook towards issues all around the world and therefore there are many things in store for Elixir and Ctrl-Alt-Elite team. We will definitely elevate our idea and add more features in the recent future and publish our app is app store/play store for everyone in the community to use and be a beneficiary of our application.
