Inspiration
Nowadays people often suffer in silence and that's what motivated us to create Mental Space. We believe it is an important initiative to improve understanding of mental illness and give access to information for those who need it.
What it does
This platform includes a depression test we created for people to know whether they might be having depression symptoms. It also has a form, where users can anonymously rant and express their feelings. Mental Space also provides a blog section with articles about identifying, overcoming, understanding depression as well as youth empowerment. Last but not least, it offers a list of mental health hotlines where people can call and get help at real time.
How we built it
We used HTML and CSS for the creating of the website and formfacade for the making of the depression test.
Challenges we ran into
We had some trouble with the time zones as we had to sleep through the 24 hours but we still needed to communicate. However we managed to overcome all obstacles.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud that we got along so well and managed to have such a beautiful result, even though we didn't know each other, came from different countries, cutures and only met in this hackathon.
What we learned
We learned that cooperation and compromise are the keys to projects like this one. We also learned more about launching websites, finding legit sources and addressing errors in our coding, communication and more.
What's next for Mental Space
The next space for Mental Space is the creating of an actual forum where people can answer others and help them.
