Inspiration-
Ever since the pandemic has hit, we humans have been accustomed to our mundane work-life and activities, thus we were inspired to bring you our hack VirtuLabs. We have noticed that education suffered a lag in these 2-3 years due to pandemic. Though, our dedicated and hard-working teachers left no stone unturned to teach their students even in these times. We are trying to help our teachers by gifting them an asset in form of VirtuLabs. It is our way of combining visualization made possible through Augmented reality(AR) and education. It can basically act as a tool for teachers in online classes so as to improve interaction, which is somewhat lost in virtual mediums.
What it does-
Mesoni-fy is our way of combining visualization made possible through Augmented reality(AR) and education. It can basically act as a tool for teachers in online classes so as to improve interaction. Students can learn anytime, anywhere at the mere click of a button.
This app as contemplated and created by our team members also serves a socio-welfare purpose. This app can be an asset to the teachers in rural areas and government schools, where the resources are limited. It serves two purposes, at first they will understand the concepts better by 3D models and animation. And the second one is, many of the students are inspired to see these burgeoning technologies and develop an interest in them. Moreover, there is no need for a network connection for our app, which is a major problem in rural areas. Even if our development benefits a single child or learner out there, the motive of creating this app would be fulfilled.
How we built it-
This app is thought to have 3 sections namely-
-> Virtual Lab- It is a laboratory AR universe created so that experiments can be implemented in a much more interactive and knowledge-enhancing manner. -> Quizzi- It's an AR Quiz Section wherein the curator of the quiz can design the quiz and the participants can attempt the quiz. And thereafter the quiz master will have a detailed report about the performances of the participants, and to what areas in the course need much more attention. ->Lab Essentials- It's a section where the users can get a detailed overview of the apparatus and equipment of the experiment in AR medium and dive deep into the technicalities of the same. Moreover, there is an app YouTube button that would stream a video in relation to that apparatus. We have decided to combine all the plugins, scenes, and sections of our app and present them in a form of an android application that can be installed anytime and anywhere with any plane surface to start your learning Considering the monetization point of view, we have planned that we will be offering customized modules and will scale them on a larger level in accordance with the needs of the designated school or college. The modules and the interaction of the app admins and the school or college administration will be end-to-end encrypted and will need authorization. We haven't zeroed down on the revenue And pricing of various modules. But we will accept the payments through a gateway that would use smart contracts and Ethereum using the base as Blockchain.
Challenges we ran into-
Deciding the components as such was easy, but to implement them was definitely not a cakewalk. We brainstormed for various hours figuring out the plugins that were to be used. A hell of a lot of time was invested in fixing the bugs of our code as the experimental procedure was based on it. We had to make sure if the user violates the order of the experiment, it would
show an error then and there and the experiment has to be restarted. And to construct a system where the progress of children could be monitored by their teachers virtually was also challenging. But our team members are glad we managed to finish and put up all the components in the end.
Accomplishments that we're proud of-
We are quite happy to put our hearts and souls into this app development which could be the source of the betterment of so many lives out there, successfully.
What we learned-
We learned various tedious concepts of the burgeoning technologies Augmented Reality and Blockchain. And moreover, the main part was to integrate them all into an android app so to ensure the feasibility of our app.
What's next for Meson-ify-
We, in all our hearts and spirits, are aware of the potential of this app. And so we are planning to add a component of an AR video conferencing portal that could act as a medium for children and teachers to interact, with each other easily. And then we plan to launch it on the Google play store.
