MetroMates

Inspiration

The inspiration for MetroMates came from the frustration of missing public transportation, and the desire to create a sustainable solution for reducing carbon footprint. After researching the challenges faced by commuters, we identified the need for an app that would provide real-time notifications and a user-friendly interface for hassle-free commuting.

What it does

MetroMates is a mobile app that helps commuters navigate public transportation by providing real-time information on train and bus routes, schedules, and arrival times. The app offers a user-friendly interface with easy-to-use features, such as personalized notifications and trip planning tools, to simplify the commuting experience.

How we built it

To build the project, we first connected with the Google Maps and Apple Maps APIs to provide accurate information on train and bus routes, schedules, and real-time arrival times. We then designed the interface with a focus on simplicity and ease-of-use, making it accessible for all types of commuters.

Challenges we ran into

One of the major challenges we faced was designing the app for older adults and those with disabilities. We had to consider the various issues that could arise, such as inadequate visual saliency, motor issues, and ambiguous affordances. Through extensive user testing and feedback, we were able to refine the design and make it more accessible to everyone.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the accessibility features we integrated into the app, making it usable for people of all ages and abilities.
