  Maths Map

Inspiration

• In 2018 UCL reported that England was behind other countries in maths performance of disadvantaged pupils
• The problem is even worse in low-income countries
• A survey from 2007 by the Southern and Eastern Africa Consortium for Monitoring Educational Quality showed that of the countries sampled, on average over 60% of students showed only basic numeracy skills.

What it does

• An application that makes learning Maths fun and enjoyable
• An interactive map that allows the user to explore various topics and dive into questions.
• A leaderboard and an achievement system

How we built it

• Figma to create the mock-up
• We used this Map Generator to create the maths map

Challenges we ran into

• Deciding what technologies to use
• Creating a good looking map
• Coming up with a name

Accomplishments that we're proud of

• Created an extensive and working prototype
• Working well together as a team

What we learned

• Consistent design language

• SVGs look very good

What's next for Middle Math

• Migrate more of the Figma Prototypes to the Ionic Application
• Partner with national school curriculums to improve the content
• Release the application to the public!
• Create a web application
