Mirae Legends Hackathon Project Summary
Update 9/13/2025
Mirae Went Live on the App Store
Inspiration
My kids have always been my biggest inspiration, and unfortunately earlier this year their mother passed away, I've always been driven and committed to building a better future for them, this event just pushed my passion to achieve this goal even further, Mirae has brought smiles to both my 7 year old daughter and 6 year old son and it has been the greatest part of this experience, they love it and all I can hope is it brings the same joy to kids around the world.
What it does
Mirae generates complete, interactive storybooks for children aged 6-12, featuring:
- Personalized stories with the child as protagonist
- Customizable writing and art styles
- Dynamic settings, friends, and heroes
- Professional-quality illustrations and narrative
- Vocabulary support and educational features
- Cross-platform mobile experience (React Native)
How we built it
The project was architected using Kiro's planning tools, which generated detailed implementation plans for both the glass UI system and the conversion of core features to React Native (.kiro/specs/modern-glass-ui/tasksglass.md, tasksmiraeconversion.md).
- Built a glass-morphism theme and component library (GlassCard, GlassButton, GlassInput)
- Converted all major web features to mobile-optimized React Native components
- Implemented robust routing, error boundaries, and responsive layouts
- Integrated AI-powered story generation, onboarding, and learning modules
- Ensured accessibility, performance, and cross-device compatibility
Challenges we ran into
- Adapting web-centric features to mobile while maintaining performance
- Designing a consistent glass UI across platforms
- Handling complex story generation logic and personalization
- Ensuring accessibility and smooth user experience for all ages
- Managing state, offline capabilities, and device-specific optimizations
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Delivered a polished, production-ready app with advanced personalization
- Built a reusable glass UI system and component library
- Achieved high performance and accessibility across devices
- Successfully converted all major features for React Native
- Created a platform that makes every child the hero of their own story
What we learned
- The value of structured planning and automation (Kiro) in accelerating development
- Best practices for React Native performance, accessibility, and design
- How to integrate AI-driven content generation with interactive learning
- The importance of cross-platform testing and user-centric design
What's next for Mirae
