Inspiration

The rising number of missing person cases globally and the emotional toll it takes on families inspired us to create MissingLink. Existing solutions lack efficiency, community involvement, and real-time collaboration. We wanted to build a platform that empowers individuals to take action and assist authorities in reuniting families.

What it does

MissingLink is a prototype mobile and web application designed to streamline the search for missing persons. Key features include: Real-time reporting: Users can report missing persons and sightings. Geolocation & heatmaps: Provides sighting zones and tracks movement. Community engagement: Empowers volunteers to join search missions. Facial recognition matching: Assists in confirming potential matches.

How we built it

We used Figma to design an intuitive prototype that demonstrates the app's key functionalities. The design process included: Wireframing core pages like the report form, heatmaps, and notifications. Adding interactive elements to simulate user journeys. Using visually engaging, accessible layouts for clarity and ease of use.

Challenges we ran into

Balancing simplicity with feature-rich designs. Designing for diverse user scenarios while maintaining consistency. Ensuring the interface appeals to both tech-savvy users and those with limited technical skills.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are incredibly proud to have conceptualized an idea like MissingLink, a platform designed to bring communities together and leverage technology to address the critical issue of missing persons. Our vision is to create a safer, more connected society by empowering individuals and authorities with real-time tools to locate and assist those in need. This initiative reflects our commitment to making a meaningful social impact and harnessing innovation for the greater good.

What we learned

The potential of technology to bridge gaps in existing solutions for social good.

What's next for MissingLink

We plan to turn MissingLink into a functional app using technologies like React Native for the interface, Firebase for real-time data, and TensorFlow for facial recognition. Our focus will be on features like real-time reporting, heatmaps, and volunteer coordination, collaborating with authorities to maximize impact and create a safer community.
