Inspiration

The inspiration behind ModePay stems from the desire to revolutionize peer-to-peer transactions by combining the power of blockchain with seamless and decentralized financial interactions. Taking cues from the success of platforms like Google Pay, we envisioned a decentralized payment system that not only facilitates instant transactions but also incorporates innovative features like splits and cashback rewards. The idea is to create a user-friendly experience that empowers individuals to manage their finances effortlessly while enjoying the benefits of blockchain technology. Using Mode's SFS feature allows the users and the product owners to earn profit thus benefiting both parties seamlessly.

What it does/

ModePay is a decentralized payment platform built on the Mode blockchain. It allows users to make splits, directly pay friends, and manage transactions in a secure and efficient manner. The integration of Mode's SFS (Sequencer Fee Sharing) feature ensures that every transaction comes with a random cashback reward, providing users with an added incentive to use the platform. Leveraging the Push Protocol Chat feature, users can communicate in a decentralized way within the platform and settle group expenses seamlessly.

How we built it

Our development process centered around the deployment of a smart contract on the Mode blockchain, serving as the backbone for all transactions, including one-to-one transfers and group splits. Recognizing the approximately two-week timeframe required to claim the SFS amount, we strategically incorporated an initial amount into the smart contract. This serves as an instant cashback for users, providing immediate benefits. Subsequently, we plan to reclaim this amount through the SFS feature, creating a symbiotic relationship that benefits both users and the product owners. Challenges we ran into

Our journey with Mode presented a learning curve, especially in navigating the intricacies of deploying with the SFS feature. However, the comprehensive documentation proved invaluable, guiding us through the process and significantly easing our entry into the Mode ecosystem.

Developing a customized chat system, enabling the seamless transmission of splits through Push Protocol, proved to be a substantial and intricate undertaking. The complexity of the task was really high but we did this to provide a decentralized communication platform for our users.
