Monkey Game

Inspiration

Everyone has wondered while watching the Planet of the Apes, "How smart am I compare to a monkey?". The chimp is game is a cognitive brain game to test ones memory and it is called the chimp game because it is primarily used to test the brain capacities of chimpanzees. My project "Monkey Game" is a remake of the chimp game, with the theme of arcade games I thought this would be perfect. You may be wondering why chimp game is a good arcade game, so I am a 17 year old student in Canada thus I did not have the chance to enjoy arcade games of the 80's and 90's. And I thought what is a game I played when I was young, bringing me back to gr 6 when I first played the chimp game, my friends and I would have competitions of who can complete the game the fastest. With old good memories of this game I thought this would be the perfect game to make for my first hackathon experience.

What it does

It outputs 7 numbers from a range of 1-7 in random position of the game. Once you press the first number(1) all the numbers go blank and you must press each number in numerical order, in order to win.

How we built it

Java for the backend and Java window builder for the frontend

Challenges we ran into

Building the coordinate system was the hardest challenge I faced, this would be complicated for me to visualized and code it up. However I overcame this challenge by drawing each coordinate system out and writing the pseudocode for the problem to clear up the complicated process.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am proud of building the game in general, as this would be my first project I upload I think this is a great step into my programming journey. I also am proud of participating in this hackathon because this would also be my first hackathon. This hackathon made me realize that hackathons are much more fun then I anticipated and made me learn a lot more about the field of computer science.

What we learned

I have learned many skills in this hackathon. I would indulge in a little bit of JavaScript and html, even though I did not utilize this in my project I believe these skills would help me further in my programing journey.

What's next for Monkey Game

I would like to add a timer as this game would be much more competitive and enjoyable if there was a skill level that is measurable.
