Inspiration?

We all need a hand to save us from drowning in life challenges and anxieties. The motivation behind MoodAID is to reduce or ideally solve social conditions as well as make more people with mental health conditions feel more connected. We rely on the government to solve a lot of socially related problem areas but when it comes to mental health conditions, sometimes just being part of the community can make an individual feel less anxious and more in sync. If we can get organizations within a community to partner and host activities, a lot of problems can be tackled.

What it does?

MoodAid is an app where you can share your interests, submit your mood for the day and reach resources to make you feel better about yourself and your surroundings. Our solution allows the user to complete a questionnaire and checkbox containing questions about their interests, current mood rate, and what they can do to feel better. Based on this, we provide statistics on user emotions as well as advice for how to make them happier.

How we built it?

We built our application using HTML/CSS/JS for the front-end and Node JS, Express JS for the back-end.

Challenges we ran into?

We had trouble creating/finding an API to connect people with leisure activities to improve their mood, therefore we created our own API to determine people's mood based on the parameters given.

Accomplishments that we're proud of?

We're happy to be creating something that can make individuals feel good before we help them with their personal concerns.

What we learned?

We learned how to work with APIs and how to incorporate them into a project.

What's next for MoodAid?

We hope to create an AI-powered software that will provide suggestions to the typical user on various activities taking place in their community that will help them better their mental health.
