moodBuddy

Inspiration

We were inspired by the lack of interaction some people have in their day to day lives, where they are unable to gauge how they are feeling over time. moodBuddy is an outlet for those individuals to keep track of their emotions.

What it does

A SMS messaging bot, moodBuddy, that sends you notifications asking how your day has been going. The responses of the user get saved in a database and moodBuddy gives you weekly reflections on how your week went.

How we built it

The application uses a combination of Twilio SMS API, JavaScript, Node.js to connect to the web server (backend), and firebase (frontend) - Google's NoSQL cloud database to record the data retrieved from the user.

Challenges we ran into

We learned how to use Twilio, node.js and Firebase to build a text messaging system that can run fully autonomously.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm proud of a fully working SMS messaging bot.
