Inspiration:
Our vision was a social network aimed at improving people's moods in the case that they are having a bad day. We decided that it was a great idea to create a website that allowed people to send and receive compliments to each other. An additional piece of inspiration that we had was incorporating a game.
What it does:
The website allows users to send and receive genuine compliments, whilst filtering the negative comments. The game element is incorporated in order to encourage users to submit compliments to each other. After the user has sent a valid compliment to another user, the sender receives an in-game reward. This in-game reward simply includes a wardrobe change for the player's character.
How we built it:
We used languages such as Java, javascript, HTML5, gml and css to program the AI, server backend, frontend and video game.
Challenges we ran into:
Occasionally, we'd run into a bug or two, but we were always able to overcome the struggles that came along with those occasional bugs in the program.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the fact that we could collaborate as a team to create something so incredible as our project, and maintain sanity throughout the twenty four hours.
What we learned
We (as a team) learned more about cooperation, leadership, and independence. These skills will allow us to thrive in future Hackathons, as well as in the general future.
What's next for MySafeSpace
The next step for MySafeSpace is going to be to expand on its capabilities, finding a proper domain for the website and spreading the word of MySafeSpace. We believe that MySafeSpace can be a mood booster and a motivational website for everyone.
