What Problem Are We Solving?

We are solving the problem of not having enough map data, and not being able to collect map data efficiently. This is important to us, because autonomous vehicles need specific types of detailed map data to be able to operate.

What Is NaviBud?

Navibud is an application which uses crowdsourcing to aid in the collection of various types of map data. Users are able to sign up on the app, which can be downloaded on their phone, and use it as a dash camera while driving. When they drive, very specific road details and features around the road, like stores, are detected and stored in datasets. For small roads, underground parking lots, users are also able to walk around with their phone camera on, while it detects things around it, like how high the ceiling is, and how wide the road is. Another option is for people to connect their internal systems with us, like parking sensor data, where we will get to know which parking spaces are available or not. The data is directly sent to the server for autonomous car companies, for them to get constantly updating map data or geodatda, which will help their cars operate with less human interference needed. In return, all users get Navi points for their help in the collection of data, and those Navi points can be redeemed for gifts, vouchers, and virtual currency.

Business Model

We will sell this app in 3 different ways. We will give the data to the autonomous car companies in return for images or videos of the road captured by autonomous cars. This means that the autonomous cars get the data, while we get the images which are crucial for our app to work. However, the ways we get actual cash is by selling raw data to companies who need them, or selling our map services, which is created from our raw map data being combined and processed.

Effect

In the future, if this app is well-known, detailed map data can be collected much more efficiently than today. We rely on a large amount of users using our app to be able to make this app work. By collecting map data, autonomous cars will be able to operate more smoothly, and it will effect the society by providing more accurate maps for them to use in their daily lives.
