NearU

A mobile app designed to encourage social distancing among their users as well as developing good habits for us to prevent COVID-19 from spreading while being able to do our regular activities.

Inspiration

We were inspired by the uncertainty that COVID-19 brings to individuals and families towards the proper measures they should take in order to prevent infection.

What it does

This application helps the users develop good habits of social distancing by notifying them when another user is in close proximity.

How we built it

We built a node.js express server to receive and process user location data and register collisions.

Challenges we ran into

Accuracy issues with the GPS systems.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to have implemented a prototype that is very close to what we envisioned for the idea.

What we learned

We learned to work in a team environment from a distance and technical knowledge about GPS systems.

What's next for NearU

We would like to develop the application further so that it can notify the user when a infected user has been detected so that said user can get tested in time for treatment if necessary.
