Inspiration

Two members of our team are neurodivergent, and going through experiences of struggle to find communities and fit into social settings, we really understand how much it would help to have a service that can help match you with real people who understand what you deal with and provides companionship through the supportive little AI chatbot and resources centralized on our resource to be by your side and teach you more.

What it does

Neuroharmony works to provide support to the underrepresented community of neurodivergent individuals from dyslexic individuals to autistic ones. We understand that people have a hard time getting over the barrier of not knowing exactly what others' lives are like, so we want to remove that wall and make life easier for all people regardless of ability. We match individuals with one another, and we provide support in bringing them into large communities they can relate to, finding 1:1 relations marked by strong relations found between individuals, providing AI support in the meantime, and providing resources too.

How we built it

We built it using Next.js, Auth0, Terraform, MongoDB Atlas, TypeScript, TailwindCSS, Figma, and Adobe Express.

Challenges we ran into

Finding that idea was a hard challenge to tackle at first, and getting started, but we were able to come together and really flesh the idea out together. Certain technologies we had never dealt with, so they seemed daunting at first.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Being able to learn Terraform was a proud moment for us to escape the CLI errors and finally see a successful run of it. More so than that, it was a proud moment to look back at the project, and realize that it doesn't only help those of us in the team that was neurodivergent, but has potential for others out there, and even for non-neurodivergent people to learn more.

What we learned

We learned a lot more about accessibility when it comes to web design by catering to neurodivergent individuals as well as colorblind individuals, doing research into good UI patterns and practices to follow, and even just more about the process behind even trying to determine neurodiversity in individuals and weighing the matching between them.

What's next for Neuroharmony

We would love to always optimize our source, and shift it towards an app so that people can use it on their phones. We also plan to add verification systems that adhere to HIPAA to make the system more credible so that individuals can feel that they can trust the source.
