Inspiration 💡

The inspiration for Momentum came from the common problem faced by college students, recent graduates and young adults where the lack of financial knowledge leads to unnecessary debt accumulation in their 20s, missing opportunities to save for future needs and increased financial stress and anxiety. Given the increasing population of upcoming generations and their lack of awareness the necessity for a accessible and efficient solution became clear. Momentum was created to address these concerns so the youth can empower themselves to take control of their finances, make informed decisions, and build healthy financial habits early in life.

What it does 💻

Momentum is a software that can transform the way people look at their finances. Literally. It is a platform where users can get deep insights into where their money goes. The software includes an AI chat-bot which is there to assist the users in everyway possible. It also allows users to set financial goals so they can clear debt and live a more stress-free life. With a focus on convenience, accessibility, and simplicity, Momentum promotes financial awareness and literacy.

How we built it 🛠️

To tackle the financial challenges that young people often encounter, we developed a budget tracking web app tailored to their specific needs. The app features a user-friendly interface designed to make tracking expenses both intuitive and engaging. Users can categorize their spending, set personalized financial goals, and gain visual insights into their spending habits. Additionally, the app offers educational resources, including tips on budgeting, saving, and understanding the stock market. By equipping young users with these tools, the app aims to help them build strong financial foundations and avoid or overcome common issues such as debt and overspending.

Challenges we ran into ❌

The primary challenges we faced included navigating the complexities of time zone differences, which made coordination more difficult, managing a tight time limit that added pressure to our tasks, and adapting to new platforms, which required learning and problem-solving on the go.

Accomplishments we're proud of 🏆

We're particularly proud of several key accomplishments: successfully creating an AI chatbot that met our project goals, implementing email authentication to enhance security, and developing impressive animations and video content that added a dynamic and engaging element to our work.

What we learnt 📝

Through this experience, we learned how to effectively present our product through video format and market it, gained the skills needed to create an AI bot, and developed the ability to design dynamic layouts that enhance user experience.

What's next for Momentum 2.0 🚀

Next for Momentum 2.0, we plan to expand our reach by enabling students from around the world to use our website. We're also working on developing a scheduling and calendar feature that will allow users to track when their expenses are too high or when a payment is due. Additionally, we'll be bringing on more collaborators to help spread the message of financial freedom and broaden our impact.
