Inspiration
We are a team of first time hackers. So we wanted to create a tool where first time hackers could meet up with other people, interact and create teams before any Hackathon!
What it does
It works as a social media tool, where everyone has a profile and they can create and join teams of other people, see other people profiles, and have AI recommendations for possible teammates and project ideas!
How we built it
We used React and Typescript for the frontend, alongside Google Gemini API. Then, we used Express, JS, and a PostgreSQL cloud hosted database for the backend and data management.
Challenges we ran into
We had a lot of trouble starting the project as we where first time hackers and didnt know what to do exactly, but once we decided on the idea we went with it.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Getting this application done and showcasing our skills in our very first Hackathon!
What we learned
Building a project, working on a team with new people and really being creative and innovative. Also, trying technologies and tools that we are less familiar with like Google Gemini API and Neon as a cloud hosted PostgreSQL database.
What's next for NexusHACK
Be able to register and create teams for multiple events and activities, so we can connect even more people together!
