Inspiration
As NFT collectors ourselves, we found that we were often buying in the dark without the information we wanted. Before deciding to buy an NFT, we wanted to know more about the team and the community but often this information wasn't available or hard to access. That's when we realized that the best source of information would be reviews by current and past NFT collection owners. That's why we built NFTHailer to be a source of verified reviews.
What it does
Users who own an NFT can submit a review about that collection. Potential buyers can read these verified reviews to make a more informed purchasing decision. For the moment, we are focusing on gaming NFTs.
How we built it
We used the APIs by OpenSea and Moralis to find NFT collections a user owns. The frontend was built in React and while the backend was built with Node. The data is stored on MongoDB.
Challenges we ran into
Initially, we tried to support all categories of NFTs such as art, utility, and gaming NFTs. But we realized this would introduce a lot of complexity at the start because the kinds of questions we needed to include in the review would vary.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Speed at which we built out the features
- Implementation of the Metamask login
What we learned
- NFT tooling is still inadequate (e.g., it's hard to identify past NFT collections someone owns)
- Vast majority of NFT discussions are currently happening on Twitter
What's next for NFTHailer
- Identifying NFT collections an owner previously owned
- Adding support for other chains
- Polishing up UI/UX
- Launching it for public use
