Inspiration
We were inspired by several indie games such as Helltaker, Just Shapes and Beats, and Osu. You can see this in the bullet-hell grid movement system.
What it does
It provides entertainment through its riveting movement-dodging gameplay.
How we built it
We used Scratch for the coding and Adobe Illustrator+Photoshop for the graphics. We first coded the grid movement system and then made a level editor that made making the levels very easy.
Challenges we ran into
Coding the movement system was very difficult, especially making it so that you cannot collide with other objects.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the fact that the visuals are very professional and there are very little bugs considering how complicated the code is.
What we learned
We learned that Scratch is not the best game making engine, especially when you are using an unaffiliated buggy third party extension to allow several people to edit the same project. It also has a very low image quality.
What's next for Night Stalker
Obviously we need to make more levels as there are only 2. However Endless provides a good challenge to those who are willing to take it on.
